The auction seems to have continued the following week because the same advertisement appeared on 17 June 1889, in the San Francisco Chronicle. In both advertisements the auction company is identified as "Mosgrove, Troy, & Co."".
  • 18-23 November 1889, at Irving Hall, 139 Post St., San Francisco. An all-Schafer sale. From the advertisement in the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, 17 November 1889, repeated on 18, 20, 21, 22, and 23 November 1889. Similar advertisements appeared in the (San Francisco) Daily Examiner. The advertisements say that 98 Schafer paintings are on exhibition and that ten paintings will be given away by a drawing each sale evening. In these advertisements the auction company is identified as "Troy & Sons".
  • 27 May through 2 June 1890, Turner Hall, Seattle, Washington. Described in a series of six notices including an exhibition advertisement in The Seattle Post-Intelligencer starting 27 May 1890. The advertisements indicate that Schafer brought "over one hundred" paintings to Seattle and was to give five away in a drawing each sale evening, naming the winners.
  • 28 September through 2 October 1891, Herring's Opera House, New Westminster, British Columbia. Described in a series of 10 notices in (New Westminster, British Columbia) The Daily Columbian and (New Westminster, British Columbia) The Morning Ledger. There was an exhibition, a drawing each sale evening and some of the winners and buyers are named.
  • 19-21 November 1891, at "W.W. Funge's old stand" (a former hardware store) in Ogden, Utah Territory. The sale of "over one hundred" Schafer paintings is described in a series of five notices starting with this notice in (Ogden, Utah) The Standard. There was a drawing each sale evening and some of the winners are named.
  • 24-31 December 1891, 119 Main Street, Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. Described in a series of eleven reports and advertisements in the (Salt Lake City) Daily Tribune and (Salt Lake City) The Herald starting 6 December 1891. The reports indicate that Schafer brought 90 paintings to Salt Lake City and gave two away by a drawing each sale evening, naming the winners. See the notice in the (Salt Lake City) Daily Tribune.

From a series of at least ten notices, reports, and advertisements starting with a report in the San Francisco Evening Bulletin of Schafer's works at the 1884 Mechanics' Fair. The auction catalog has not been located but a notice in the (San Francisco) Daily Alta California of 17 September 1884 reports that there were 65 numbered titles. William K. Dick recorded prices of some of the titles on page 82 of his notes but his source is not known. The following list of 26 titles is compiled from (1) the newspaper reports, (2) when prices are mentioned, William K. Dick's notes, and (3) the paintings listed in the Mechanics' Institute Nineteenth Industrial Exhibition since the advertisements indicated that all of them were offered.

A notice in the 26 October 1887 Alameda Encinal reports that there is a catalog (not located) that lists about 75 paintings.
