Description: | A high country landscape with widely separated trees and a snow-capped mountain peak--actually a double-peak--in the distance at the center. Two riders follow a trail through a shadow in a U-shaped cut through a slope on the right above a river which flows far below on the left. Three tall, sparsely branched pines stand at the right edge, two more near the trail, and two more farther along down the slope. The foreground is mostly low green shrubbery, the middle regions are grey and rocky, and the distance hazy; the sky is blue. (From a color photograph.) |
Identification: | Descriptive title of unknown origin, as used in the 1986 sale catalog. The photographs are of the same painting. |
