Date: Perhaps between 1895 and 1904 (See Note).
Medium: Watercolor on artist's board.
Size: 3 x 5 in (8 x 13 cm)
Inscription: Signed l/r, angled upward, "FSchäfer.", with initials conjoined in a monogram, in the rounded block-letter hand.
Verso: Said to be "3/8 6200 Art 15¢". In pencil on the backing mat "katz rapisiada".
Provenance: Found in an unidentified antique shop, San Anselmo, California in 1985; sold to private collection, New Hampshire, 1985.
Citations: Personal communication.
Site: Unidentified; resembles Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe in the Sierras.
Note: This painting was found accompanied by a second watercolor of the same size. That second watercolor has a verso inscription that may be a clue as to the date of both watercolors. See Note at [Woman walking toward a village in winter].
Identification: Assigned, descriptive title.
