| Description: | A small lake is nestled at the lower right in the bottom of a valley surrounded by large mountains. A high peak looms in the background against a cloudy sky. On the slope at the left stands a tall conifer flanked with snags, with other smaller trees scattered on the hillside. Nearer on the left the hillside is almost bare, with a few young trees among boulders; at the right is moderately heavy brush. The entire painting is brushed in very broad strokes with finishing detail only in some of the trees and brush. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
