Description: | View up a rapid-strewn river valley toward a white snow-covered mountain. The dark lower right triangle of the painting is a forest; there are smaller mountains with traces of snow colored pink by the setting sun in the middle and on the left; the sun, off the canvas to the right, bathes a cliff higher on the left with a coral color. Forest clutter consists of snags on both banks, another on a rock hanging over river, and a white rock farther up on left bank. (From the painting, 9 December 1989.) |
Identification: | Descriptive title of unknown origin, as appearing in the Early California and Western Art Research index. The ECWAR slide is from the Goldeen collection, and the photograph by William K. Dick from the Garzoli offering. Mr. Dick reported the absence of a verso inscription. |
