| Description: | Four brown, decorated tepees near the center are surrounded with Indians, standing and sitting, in bright, colorful costumes; on a hillside to the left are seen another half dozen tepees, and on a hillside further back are yet more. Smoke rises from a campfire in the right foreground; several more smoke plumes rise from fires around the tepees. The hillsides are covered with mixed green and brown grass; two wide grey trails converge at the center, while a narrow grey trail leads up the hillside to the second group of tepees. Three poles stand on the right in front of the nearest group of tepees. On the right edge of the painting climbs a grey cliff, while across the background is a ridge of snow-covered peaks under a yellow sky laced with white clouds. (From a color photograph.) |
