Note: Essentially identical advertisements appeared in the San Francisco Evening Bulletin of September 13, 16, 17, and 18, 1884 and the (San Francisco) Daily Alta California of 18 September 1884. A copy of the catalogue mentioned in the advertisement was located in the 1980s by William K. Dick at the The Society of California Pioneers but it is currently unlocated. This advertisement is part of a public relations campaign consisting of at least ten newspaper notices, reports, and advertisements. The clippings are numbered (1) through (10).
