Description: | The indistinct silhouette of a sharply peaked mountain in the distance with several notable bumps on its right flank stands above a valley with a stream that runs from the center of the painting out toward the front. On the left bank are brush and trees that fill the left side of the painting and are topped with a bent-over dead tree. There are snags lying on both banks of the stream; the one on the left points to the right, with the line continued by the slope on the right. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
Note: | This painting bears some resemblence to Autumn in the White Mountains [1]. |
Identification: | Descriptive title of unknown origin, as found in the 1987 sale catalog. |
