| Legend: | The estate sale sellers, brothers apparently in their 70s, said that the painting was acquired by their great-grandfather, a prominent Salt Lake City physician who occasionally traveled to San Francisco. That would probably date the acquisition in the 1880s or 1890s, a period when Schafer is known to have sold paintings in both San Francisco and Salt Lake City. |
