Site: | The U.S. Geographic Names database reports nine lakes in California (and 343 in the United States) named "Clear Lake". A reasonable guess is that the Clear Lake of this painting is the one located just south of the Mendocino National Forest, about 100 miles north of San Francisco. Another reasonable guess, given that the trees are broadleaf, is that it is the Clear Lake located in the Adirondacks. |
