Description: | A party on horseback traverses a wide green valley leading toward a stratovolcano that rises out of the haze beyond a series of inceasingly indistinct ridges. The front edge of the painting is completely lined with boulders nestled in weeds; a snag lies across the boulders near the center. Several tall conifers stand at the near left edge while a few more are more distant at the right. (From a color photograph.) |
