Description: | Brushwork very noticeable with minimal finish. A snow-capped mountain dominates the center, viewed through a wide river valley. The river enters the scene at the center and continues to the front left; almost no curve is visible until the river sweeps past the viewer's feet to exit on the right. On the near, right bank are a boulder and a log leaning up the bank toward the right. Farther up the bank, a few trees; behind these and higher, a rock cliff. On the left bank, farther away, a steep, forested, hillside. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
