Description: | The indistinct silhouette of a sharply peaked mountain in the distance with several notable bumps on its right flank (perhaps Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, California) stands above a valley with a stream that runs from the center of the painting out toward the front. On the left bank are brush and trees that fill the left side of the painting and are topped with a bent-over dead tree. There are snags lying on both banks of the stream; the one on the left points to the right, with the line continued by the slope on the right. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
