| Description: | Two figures on horseback stand on a flat, grey, rocky promontory looking down over a round, blue lake in the center. Beyond the lake is a low mountain ridge, and above that a high, snow-covered ridge; the sun coming from the left brightens the tops of the snowy peaks along the ridge. On either side of the horsemen are groves of conifers; on each side a few trees are tall enough to reach the sky. The foreground is largely rock, with the trunk of a dead tree angled across the lower right corner. The sky is a cloudy blue. (From a color photograph.) |
