Description: | A pastoral landscape. In the middle distance, a figure stands in a path that curves past a gentle pasture slope up to the right. Beyond the figure several cattle stand on a low ridge, silhouetted against a bright, wide, flat valley floor beyond. A series of low hills provides a backdrop for the entire scene. Two sparse broadleaf trees on the slope near the right frame the scene; below them is the gnarled trunk of a tree fallen across another tree. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
Identification: | The Early California and Western Art Research slide is a photograph of the 12 July 1990 Butterfield & Butterfield catalog image. |
