| Attribution: | Although the Brunk Auctions catalog attributes this painting to Frederick Ferdinand Schafer, the attribution seems unlikely. The color palette is not familiar, the central focus seems to be the distant mountain rather than something nearby, the level of finish is uniform rather than decreasing in distant planes, and the massive background mountain and small foreground is the reverse of the usual Schafer composition. |
