Description: | A fisherman in a red shirt, brown pants, and yellow hat stands on a point extending into a calm, shallow, rock-strewn lake at the left with water-lilies in the foreground. The steep, eroded lake-bank behind the fisherman is bare, except for some fallen branches; atop the bank stand several tall but sparse broadleaf trees and a snag that leans into the painting from the right side. Beyond the trees is a brush-covered hillside; the sky is a hazy, cloudless blue. (From the painting, 22 July 1998.) |
