Description: | "…a small camp and lean-to at the bottom with a fireplace in the middle…smoke from the hunters' lean-to wends its way up through…a dark background of trees and full moon at the top." (owner's description) |
Note: | 1. The painting spent many years rolled up in an outdoor storage shed. When unrolled it was found to be in poor condition. 2. This painting may be the studio version of the much smaller Hunters camp [2]. 3. A painting with this title was exhibited in the San Francisco Art Association Spring Exhibition in 1880 but there is not enough information in the exhibition catalog to either include or exclude the possibility that it is the same painting. |
Legend: | Said to be a circa 1965 gift from a client. |
Identification: | Title from the artist's verso inscription. See note 2. |
