Description: | A winter landscape executed entirely in shades of grey and brown. A grey cabin with a red chimney, a leanto at the left end and a small outbuilding behind it on the right stand in the lower center, viewed down a snow-covered path lined with tall leafless trees. Amongst the trees are small bits of bright brown foliage. The sun brightens a patch of snow-covered grass in the left foreground; the trunk of a fallen tree lies in the right foreground. The sky gradually changes shade from a light grey near the top to a brightening yellow near the horizon. (From a color photograph.) |
Note: | The painting depicts a cabin in a broad-leaf forest with no background mountains, suggesting that it might be an eastern scene. |
