| Description: | Two Indians in native garb on horseback stand on a rock promontory overlooking a white-water river; the one on the right is pointing to something in the distance. A snow-capped mountain range stands as a backdrop, under grey cloudy skies with patches of blue on the left. In the left foreground stand two prominent gnarled, intertwined trees on a brightly lit grassy slope. Closer to the viewer are a snag lying across a rock, and three small conifers standing amidst a dense brushy patch of wildflowers. A steep cliff stands on the very left edge in the distance; on the far side of the river are unfinished rocky slopes with patches of forest. Another snag lies across a a boulder at the right front edge, extending out over the river. (From the color photographs.) |
