Description: | An uncontrolled Barbizon-style forest interior. A figure in a white shirt, brown pants, and blue vest stands holding something at the lower right, below two tall broadleaf trees, one of which is straight, the second of which curves sharply from left to right before turning to become nearly upright. Below the two trees is a green, grassy clearing with a few red flowers; beyond is dense forest. The entire scene is quite loosely sketched, in bright browns and greens. (From a color photograph.) |
Note: | Descriptive title of unknown origin, reported by Walter Nelson-Rees of WIM Fine Arts. Based on the similar composition, mood, and size, this painting appears to be a pendant to [Forest Glade]. |
