| Site: | Blue Canyon is in the Northern Sierra mountains of California, between Auburn and Truckee. The Union Pacific Railroad traverses the canyon. |
| Description: | A steep, dark hillside in the middle distance dominates the center and right. In the foreground, a bright cluttered slope supports a few trees and some brush. A river flows to the left below in a flat valley; on the other side cliffs beyond fade into the haze near the center. A few trees stand atop the cliff to the right. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
| Identification: | Descriptive title of unknown origin, as listed in the 1979 sale catalog. The catalog lists the second word of the title as "Carion", almost certainly a misreading of a verso inscription. |
