| Description: | Luminescent clouds fill a yellow and orange sky; three eastern forest trees in autumn foliage at the edge of a forest fill the frame on the left, a still pond in the lower right reflects the orange sky, and wild flowers stand on the bank of the pond in a clearing in the left foreground. Detail decreases with distance; flowers and trees nearest the viewer are in full detail, while the background landscape of low mountains is quite indistinct. The painting is executed almost entirely in yellows, oranges, and browns. (From a color photograph.) |
| Identification: | The 20 October 1983 sale catalog photograph is barely legible, but it does appear to be the same painting illustrated for the 21 January 1981 sale. The 20 October 1983 sale catalog reports its size as 14 x 22 but in the photograph the height exceeds the width. The photo from William K. Dick identifies the July 1973 sale as its source. |
