Information about this image:
Original: Photograph of a circa 1895 photograph found in a 19th century album of views of Victoria, B.C., collected by the Dunsmuir family. More information about this photograph is available on-line at the Craigdarroch Castle website.
Note: 1. Schafer's painting of the Gorge does not depict the boardwalk towpath that appears under the bridge in the photograph. Since the towpath was constructed circa 1890 the painting was probably made, or at least sketched, before then. 2. Since the identity and date of death of the photographer are both unknown, the status of this photograph image under Canadian copyright law is uncertain. Permission to use this image should be sought from the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society.
