Note: Thanks to the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society for pointing out the existence of this auction. Slight variations of this advertisement were published in the editions of 12 and 13 October 1909. The auction advertisement states that the sale includes seven paintings by Schafer, but the title list mentions "two of Rocky Mountain Scenery", which would imply that there were eight paintings.
