Photo credit: William K. Dick, 1978
Inscription: l/l "F Schafer", in the artist's block-letter hand, underlined, on a rock
Provenance: With Garzoli Gallery, San Francisco, in 1978.
Reproductions: William K. Dick slide S2, January 78 (color)
Site: The Pacific Ocean, looking South towards Cypress Point, near Monterey, California.
Description: Gentle surf rolls in from the ocean on the right. A large, layered, grey rock formation stands in the center with white rocks to its left. On the left are two large Monterey Cypress trees, and a dead tree swoops up from the lower left. Another dead tree lies on the rocks at the left. Atop the rock formation is a lone cypress; above distant white cliffs are seen several more cypress trees. The cliffs continue along the ocean's edge to the horizon. The sky is blue-white and hazy. (From a color photograph.)
Note: The composition is almost identical to that of Midway Point, Monterey.
Identification: Assigned, descriptive title. The slide has no further identifying information.
