Inscription: l/r "F.Schafer." in red, in the artist's characteristic block-letter hand
Verso: l/c "Point Bonita / near San Francisco Cala" in black brush, in the artist's characteristic block-letter hand. Upside down on the upper stretcher bar in black marking pen "368". On each stretcher bar a stamp "Patented Sept. 1884, / THAYER & CHANDLER, / CHICAGO."
Provenance: In private collection, Salt Lake City by 1942; by descent in the family in 1956 and again in 2002; sold 22 February 2015 for $4250 + 20% by Clar's Auction Gallery, Oakland, California, as lot 2198 in "Fine Art and Antique Auction".
