| Description: | In the foreground, a canoe rests on a point on the right bank of a river; smoke rises from a campfire farther back to the right. A figure sits in the canoe, a second figure stands on the bank between the canoe and the campfire. Beyond the river a series of majestic ridges rise steeply; beyond them a snow-capped peak stands in the center. A cliff high to the right glints in the sun. The banks of the river are forested except for the point; the mountains appear to be too rocky to support trees. (From a monochrome photograph.) |
