Description: | A rider dressed in brown and on a brown horse stands on a trail in the center looking over a wide valley on the left through which flows a blue river. A snow-covered peak stands in the center; below it the valley is filled with a blue-green fog. A wooded slope forms a shallow triangle from the lower left corner to well up the right side, with the trunks and lower branches of three trees standing near the right edge, and three more trees framing the scene on the left. The foreground is brown, while the brush behind the trees is reddish. The brushstrokes are mostly broad and uncontrolled. (From the painting, 10 January 1990, at Christopher Queen Galleries.) |
