Site: Looking across the Merced River and Bridalveil Meadow, toward Bridalveil Fall and Cathedral Rocks, with Half-Dome in the distance, in Yosemite Valley, California.
Description: A wide river flows from the center left to the right front half of the painting. A fisherman stands on the far bank; behind him on the right is a small forest and behind that the waterfall. A dead tree lies at an angle on the right bank; in a break in the conifer forest on the left bank stands another dead tree. The background on the left consists of hazy mountains.
