Reproductions: Clar's Auction Gallery 12 September 2004 sale catalog; Hewlett's Antique Auctions 21 November 2004 sale catalog; Michaan's Auctions by the Bay, Inc. 2 December 2007 sale catalog; Michaan's Auctions by the Bay, Inc. 3 February 2008 sale catalog.
Attribution: The palette is unfamiliar, the painting is unusually stylized, and the signature is very rounded. The 12 September 2004 Clar's Auction Gallery catalog uses the words "bears signature F. Schafer".
Site: Mount Shasta from a position where Shastina is barely visible, or perhaps Mount Hood.
Identification: Descriptive title as found in the auction catalogs. The catalogs of all four sales have reproductions that appear to be of the same painting.
